Philosophy and Methods We believe that the best way to help students improve their math skills is to tutor them one-on-one and to closely monitor their individual strengths and weaknesses. There is no standardized, "mass-production" method that can accurately address your child's needs because no two minds work exactly alike. Experience has taught us that many students lack the two-way communications skills needed to convert their understanding of math concepts into problem-solving and test-taking success. Throughout all tutoring sessions we pay close attention to this often-overlooked skill. We work from approved and time-tested standards to assure that your child will stay in synch with the demands being placed on him/her by his/her school. We conform to the official Massachusetts Mathematics Frameworks. We use books and other materials used by many schools in the area. For MCAS, SAT and ACT preparation we use actual questions from previous tests. We will give your child the skills and the encouragement to master tough new concepts. Cancellation Policy If a scheduled tutoring session is missed without any notice being given to Donchin Tutoring prior to the day and time of the session, the student / parents are responsible for the full amount of the fee due for the missed tutoring session. The exception is in the case of emergencies. |

Note: The above policy is designed mainly for situations where a scheduled appointment is just forgotten or when plans change and I'm not given any notice at all, thereby making the time slot unavailable to someone who may need it. When last-minute issues come up that would prevent keeping a tutoring appointment, any notice at all is good enough, even if the soonest you can get to me is after the appointment. And certainly emergencies of any kind are off limits for application of this policy. This policy appears on the application form. |
